Blackberry Web Shortcuts
delta-romeo | 18 Dec 07This cool little Blackberry app lets you place shortcuts to various mobile websites you might frequent on your Blackberry desktop instead of first having to pull up the Blackberry browser and then navigate to a bookmark or manually enter a web address.
From your Blackberry, navigate to the web shortcuts page and download the shortcut hub utility and up to six web shortcuts. Run the shortcut hub utility and assign a name for each shortcut, the link to the mobile site and a link to a PNG file you would like to use which will be displayed as the icon for the shortcut on the Blackberry desktop. The app also supports use of images stored on an SD card and directly on the Blackberry although there appear to be issues when doing so.
You will now have easy access to your favorite mobile sites directly on your Blackberry desktop.
Note that after you setup your various links, the PNG file for each shortcut will not be displayed until you run it for the first time. It will then download the image file and update accordingly.
If you encounter any problems, feel free to ask me for help or check out the listing over at Blackberry Forums which might answer some of your questions faster than I can.
